Hello, I hope this is the right section of the forum to ask this!

I need a workstation desktop for professional use of Inventor and 3ds Max. Im mostly concerned about which combination of gpu + cpu i must use. Can you make some suggestions?
Also do you believe that these software tools can run relatively smoothly on a laptop of the same budget?

Thanks a lot for the reply! Dont you think that a threadripper/xeon cpu (which costs about the same) and a quadro p*000 gpu (which can cost 100 eur more but I can save money from a cheaper motherboard for example) would be more suitable for my needs?

Due to the motherboard costs, of such platforms, I would probably lean towards no. Those chips are power hungry, and you do not really want to skimp, on the motherboard. You could do 1st gen threadripper, with GTX still, but there is going to be an IPC loss, vs 3rd gen. You would get an upgrade path, to 3rd gen threadripper, at a later date though.

The 16c/32t 3950x will probably be the highest core count, that we will see, on AM4.


With the low clock speeds, of the Xeons, I wouldn't recommend those.
