So, first thing, you said a monitor isnt a must but would be a good plus but said you need a 1080 one above. Im confused on that also. If you do need one. Here is my advice get a 144 hz monitor, regardless of resolution (1080 or 1440). You probably will be spending 300$ on a monitor so you have 1200-1400$ left.

This is the trickiest part For this price range, if you are going for high intensity games even though you said its mainly for school, you should opt towards the 1400 side (the more expensive) and get the 5700xt gpu but you said you prefer nvidia so get the 500-550$ nvidia rtx 2070 super. If you want a cheaper option get the RTX 2070 for 420-460$.

CPU is 3700x. For ryzen cpus, you should get a b450 motherboard, probably the 120$ tomahawk max and for RAM, get even CAS latency so 16 is the sweet spot and ryzen really likes fast ram so get 3600 mhz. There is gskill ripjaws for 85$, 16gb. Believe me you dont need 32gb.

So for storage, you should probably get a 500gb ssd and a tb of hdd storage. Download your OS and browser and important files on the SSD and the rest on the hdd. This will equal around 100-150$

Case fans are optional, you should probably get like two for a total of 30-50$

PSU: I recommend the seasonic focus plus gold 750w for 115$

The case, i recommend the fractal design mesh c for sub 100$

and for the OS (windows), you can find one on google for 30$

Let me know if you have any questions

Also, for a 5700xt, don't pay more than 500$ for one. I know a reallyyy good 440$ one

For the 2070s, dont pay more than 600$, I know a really good one for 580-590

for the 2070, dont pay more than 500$

so the mother board i picked was the b450 gaming plus max. since b450 tomahawk max was sold out. however it cant take 3600mhz memory, is it still ok for a ryzen 3700x? ( I should say that the build is mostly for gaming but i'm also using it for school, it's not mainly for school)

The tomahawk max isnt sold out. Best buy and B&H have it. Newegg is sold out. You said it was preferred, is it that important to you?

The MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard is a 160$ option at B&H and and Amazon. It is even better than both
Hey so I just got my power supply today and I guess I did not read the label right or something on amazon because I bought the focus 650 instead of the 750. It’s still gonna be enough power right?

should be unless you OC your GPU, CPU, and RAM to the max and have additional case fans lol and even then, you should be in the clear by like at least 50 w
