16:9 games on 16:10 screen

Hey all,

Had a quick question about games that don't support 16:10 resolutions, i.e. the Assassin's Creed games.

I have a 1920x1200 screen, and is there actually any point in setting a 1920x1200 resolution in 16:9 games or could/should I be setting 1920x1080? The main reason I'd prefer to set 1080p is so that screenshots aren't letterboxed.

Is there any effect on image quality from simply setting 1920x1080 and allowing my GPU or monitor to scale it to 16:10 and keep aspect ratio?

Thanks.

Anyone? :~(

I'm basically wondering if I should always run the game at my monitor's native resolution even if the game only supports 16:9, or if I can run it at 1920x1080 or downsampled from a higher 16:9 res without negative effects except maybe a bit of extra input lag (which I can live with).

It is best to set the resolution to the maximum supported for your monitor which is 1920x1080. If you set the monitor to stretch the resolution to fill the screen the graphics will be a bit distorted because they are stretched. Additionally the graphics will not look as sharp when you stretch the graphics.
