I replaced my laptop's 4gb ram ( it has 4chips on front and 4 in back ) with a new 8gb module ( 8 chips on front and 8 on back ) . When I install the new ram there is no display coming . Does the 16 chips mean it is a 512meg × 64 ram. If that so crucial.com says 1024meg × 64 ram in supported upgrades for my laptop. Is that the reason my new ram is not working ??
I'm confused a lot. Help me !!!
Laptop : lenovo e41-15

Solution
Looking at your ram, it shows 8 chips, not the same number of chips on your original ram or the supported crucial ram. That indicates a different construction and timings.
Return the ram if the vendor indicated compatibility.
Otherwise, what you buy, you can sell.

Gonna check the ram in the local service centre to make sure it is working and only not compatible with my laptop.

Yes Im right. The ram works fine in other laptop. I guess it is not working Just because it is 1866mhz, because my processor supports only upto 1600mhz. I wonder why it is not downclocking ?

I tried to buy the Ram from crucial. It redirected me to amazon where for the same cofiguration ID they are selling a ram with a different construction (8 chips - same as the one in picture). The image displayed contains 4 chips on each side but when i check customer images it shows 8 chips on each side.
They say that it is 1024meg ×64 but it actually is not. It is a 512meg×64 construction. And I cannot find a 8gb ram in 1024meg×64 construction anywhere ?
