Hello.

My PC specs are as follows:
MSI Z87-GD65
Intel i5 4670k
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
MSI GTX 760

I have had my computer for a few months and the other day I noticed in MSI Command Centre that my 1600MHz RAM was only running at 1300MHz. I went into BIOS and overclocked my RAM to 1600MHz, saved changes, and rebooted. The computer worked fine for about an hour, after which time I went downstairs to watch the World Cup. When I came back upstairs, it seemed that the computer had gone into sleep mode. I pressed the power button and the lights turned on and the fans started spinning. Then, after a few seconds, it suddenly turned off before turning back on again. It did this a few times. About a minute later I got a message on the screen asking if I wanted to restore default BIOS settings. I went into BIOS and made sure my RAM went back down to 1300MHz. My PC has worked fine since.

Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? If you need any more info, just ask.

Many thanks,
Jonathan

Solution
Instead of manually setting your ram, use the xmp profiles. Those are usually less hassle than manually tuning the timings/speed etc.

I didn't even know that existed before but it worked perfectly! Thanks for your help!
