Family member had an older box with a 1600X, with some ancient old video card. They wanted to have full support for windows 11.

So removed the 1600x, took out the DDR4 2100mhz 16GB kit.

Replaced with 5700G, 32GB Corsair 3200mhz, and a peerless 120 CPU cooler, replaced the 2TB HDD with a 4TB SSD (SP 4TB SATA).
Runs a lot better, now using both the HDMI out for the TV and the DP to the monitor.

Then upgraded to windows 11. The only issue even with TPM 2.0, secure boot and GPT correctly set it would not upgrade.

The PC health check said it was ready, but the windows update said no.

Ran this command to fix that
  • schtasks.exe /Run /TN "\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser"
Then windows 11 installed correctly no further issues.

PC cooler is so much nicer and quite.

I think it should run for a long time, passmark shows it a 47% increase in score.

Is there a question hidden somewhere? What motherboard ? That CPU is fully compatible with TPM 2.0 and that should be possible to enable in BIOS with no need to bypass/cheat for W11, BIOS should be in UEFI/non-CFM mode and disk in GPT mode and everything will be fully compatible, now it's somewhat crippled and there is good chance MS will refuse to update in future.

No question sorry. I posted this as "info". Just sharing this weekend PC upgrades.

Windows 11 installed the supported way.

Board is a b350-F Strix. Flashed the bios of course before upgrading the CPU.

Family member was happy to have a boost in performance.
