So I am saving up for a new monitor. Currently i have old 4:3 dell monitor and i am looking for an upgrade. I have gtx 660, I3 4130, 8gb. I dont need a huge monitor, nothing bigger then 24 inch. I would like to buy 1600x900 monitor but there is no big choice, as it seems they are bad for gaming? Budget-100-120 euros.

Solution
This would be the monitor:

Samsung S22C450B Black 21.5"

This would be Why:

-The difference in gaming between those resolutions is noticeable. If you are to scale your 1080p monitor down to 900p you'll notice just how much of a jump it really is. (something to visualise the difference)

I would go with a nice 1080p monitor, your GTX 660 should handle most modern games on high settings at 1080p. If possible, you can buy a second GTX 660 and SLI them so that you can play most games on high to Ultra at 1080p.

well it depends on your preference

i would suggest 1080p for anything greater than 16inches

i personally us an Asus monitor(VS228n? i forgot)

you can always downscale to get a better framerate on modern demanding games

Or if you are a couch gamer like me, I have my SLI GTX 970 PC hooked up to my 55 inch HDMI 2.0 4K 3DTV and my games look great at 4K and I game with a wireless keyboard/mouse and a XBOX 360 wireless controller for Dragon Age Inquisition since the Keyboard/Mouse UI sucks in that game, lol. Your GTX 660 has HDMI out with sound so that you can connect your PC to an HDTV and I game very comfortably on my Lazyboy recliner too, lol.

For 4K gaming, I usually hover around 45-50 FPS average with all settings set on Ultra except for a few.

For example, I have AA (Multisample AA in the menu) set to none as it's not really needed at 4K because the sheer pixel density of my 4K TV makes AA not worth the performance hit as it's not much of a difference at this resolution. I also have Tessellation Set to Medium, Post Processing set to Low, AO set to SSAO and textures set to Ultra instead of Fade Touched. Last but not least, I have both cards OC'ed to 1250 core (boost pass 1400) and 7.5ghz Mem for stability and heat management.

These are the settings I use at 4K and the game look gorgeous, but to really appreciate all the eye candy and such, I set the resolution to 1440p and I'm able to crank up all settings to max and have about the same performance as my above 4K settings.

If I set all settings to max at 4K, my poor SLI GTX 970's manage to barely hit 30-40 FPS during normal gaming and dips below 20 during intense spell casting and such. lol.

I do admit, the XBOX 360 controller works perfectly with this game, what a shame that the keyboard/mouse UI is trash in this game, but I'm ok with the controller since it's not a shooter, lol.
