I just replaced my power supply for the gpu 8 pin.

Took out the 1050ti put in the 1660 super and it's not working, the light is on the gpu but the connectors at the back for the gpu are not working and in windows or the bios I can't find the gpu anywhere. Windows only finds my intel graphics and that's it.

When I try installing the nvidia drivers it says- "The NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows" "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."

I'm lost I don't know what else to do, Please help If you can. :(

My motherboard is Intel DQ77MK if that means anything.

Thanks!

Which LED is on?

reset the BIOS by the clear CMOS jumper while power is unplugged from the wall
plug in the video cable to the 1660super and power up your PC

The Q77 is UEFI compatible, but only by setting it to UEFI in BIOS won´t help, you will have to convert your windows installation to UEFI as well.

Backup important data before

If this didn´t work:
update the BIOS of your motherboard to the latest version, I think it´s 0073

Modern cards like the GTX1660 super need a uefi bios to run.
Your motherboard is older and may only have a legacy bios.
If there is an option, set the bios to UEFI, but I doubt that option is available.
Contact the maker for your card, perhaps they have a bios update that will let it run on a legacy bios.

Past that, perhaps it is time to update the whole cpu/mobo/ram to current tech.

Yeah, the bios has been set to uefi and legacy has been turned off.

I'm currently updating windows as I'm on 1909 and there is a 2004 windows update. Maybe that will help, Not entirely sure though.

Thanks for getting back to me. :)

The light on the gpu is on and the fans were spinning, I said this just incase someone told me to take it out and plug it back in which I did twice.
Is there a way to check to see if my windows is on UEFI and Not Legacy without transfering windows?

In system information it says, BIOS Mode - UEFI. - If this mean anything.

Also thanks I didn't know any of this previously.

Edit: Nevermind I found it in the windows panther folder, Detected boot environment: EFI - It says that, which means my windows is installed in UEFI which is what you said? I will double check the version of my bios now.

Bios in system information says - BIOS Version/Date Intel Corp. MKQ7710H.86A.0062.2013.0902.1328, 02/09/2013

Is this the right one or does this need updating?

Also when I restart my computer after disabling the legacy bios and only booting with UEFI the bios screen is not showing up it just black screens and then comes on in windows?

Ok so I'm back, I flashed my motherboard bios is updated to the newest 2018 version was on the 2013 version.

Still nothing on the gpu connectors to my screen or the gpu showing in windows, windows is installed on UEFI and UEFI Mode is on.

Any other ideas as to why this might not be working?

I got it working now, Thank you so much to the both of you for helping me out with this. only took a solid 5 hours but we got there in the end. <3

  • I unplugged my gpu and reseatted it plugging back in the cable.
  • I updated windows using the "update now"- https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
  • I flash updated my bios to the newest version
  • I checked to make sure windows is booted in UEFI
  • Made sure my bios is booting in UEFI

I believe that to be everything.

Thanks Again! :)
