Hello,

So Haliburton Representative and I (yes, that's actually his name) have seen many people boasting of their fancy 1080p gaming monitors. Well, we decided that it was time for change... we would bring knowledge to misguided buyers.

So... this is how I want this to work :bounce: :

If you're in favor of 1080p displays, go ahead and post your arguments. Then, if you're in favor of 1680, go ahead and help us beat down the 1080ers :kaola: . Just kidding! (sort of). In truth, I want this to be a healthy (keyword: healthy) debate about what kind of monitor is better (for gaming, specifically): 1680 or 1080p. Feel free to post anything you think. There are NO (almost no. Stupid is stupid) stupid posts. I don't want this to be a flamewar, so keep it healthy. If you have other types of monitors to bring in, go ahead! We want to get everyone's opinions in on this!

So let's get started!

1) Ours are cheaper. Also, the widescreen gives you a wider viewing area. We're more unique. Your turn!

Well today just about all mainstream monitors on the market are 1080p so you'd be hard-pressed to find a lower resolution one and even if you did it probably wouldn't be much cheaper, if at all. I have a 1680x1050 only because it was a hand-me-down, but I'd get a 1080 any day to see movies and games in their full glory.

with 1680x1050 , all things being equal, we get higher fps
