Hi everyone. So I just got two new 8GB 3200MHz sticks of RAM and I have three RAM slots in my motherboard. I decided to add it to my 8GB 2133MHz to have a total of 24GB. However, when I go to check my RAM, it says I have 24GB RAM at 2133MHz. I tried to fix my XMP profile in BIOS using some youtube videos but nothing worked. I'm all ears to any possible solution or whether I should go with 16GB 3200MHz or 24GB 2133MHz.

Solution
Motherboard wont up the speed of the 2133 stick to match the 3200's. Instead it'll run them combined at speeds the lowest performing memory is capable of.

16GB is fine for today's use so just use the 3200 sticks. They'll go in 2nd and 4th slot from cpu.

What cpu and motherboard do you have? Cpu can influence possible ram speeds and so can the motherboard.

Mobo's don't like two seperate speeds it will auto clock to the lowest set profile if reads. As for the speed vs amount. That is a tricky one and almost all deepends on you and what you do with the oc if you game i would just stick with 16gb 3200 it will help games load faster and easier
