So I recently upgraded from the z77 platform to Ryzen but I'm having some issues with Windows utilizing 16gb in dual channel mode. I'm using Trident Z RBG 3000mhz ram. WIndows utilizes 16 gb of ram when I have both sticks of ram right next to each other but then I am in single channel mode. With Dual Channel mode I am limited to 7.95gb of ram.

I have already attempted the msconfig workaround and that did nothing for me.

I have tried swapping the sticks and that didn't work either.

Sadly, my 212 Evo is blocking one of the slots so I can't use that one for testing

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Which slots are they in? For dual channel it's recommended to put them in slots 2/4 (A2/B2).

If that doesn't work try updating the BIOS.

If updating the BIOS doesn't work then maybe it's a defective slot?

If not defective I'm out of ideas.

Is it possible that slot A2 is defective? I would try a stick in A2 only and see if the system boots up, if not then time to RMA the board.

Well if it were defective wouldn't the ram not show up at all? I'm using HWinfo to check the speed and channel mode and it always shows up as 16gb total but 7.95 usable in dual channel mode.

I see, for a second I thought it was showing up as 8gb instead of 16gb. I'm going to change the tags on this thread so more people should see it and maybe give some input.
