so this is something that has been bothering me for about a year now. I"ve tried a couple of times to figure it out, but have yet to find the problem.

Windows 10 Pro

Ram: Patriot Viper 3 Lower Profile Series 16GB 2X8GB DDR3 1866MHZ PC3-15000 10-11-10-30 Dual Memory Black

CPU: AMD FX-6300 Six Core 3.5/4.1GHZ Processor AM3+ 14MB Cache 95W Retail Box

MoBo: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ DDR3 AMD 990X 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 1PCI USB3.0 SATA3 GBLAN Motherboard

msconfig does NOT have max memroy checked, so it should be using it all.

Bios reports both sticks of ram

I'm assuming there's some setting I need to change in my bios, but I'm not sure what. Can anyone help me with this?

bios is already running on 2501.

I've tried chaning the speed of the ram. It was set to 1866mhz by default. Tried the next freq higher, and the next one lower. Same thing.

Here's a screen shot of the memory tab on CPU-Z

I know I originally had them in there, I think last time I tried figuring this out, I had swapped it but it didn't make any difference, and apparently I didnt' swap them back.

So just now, I swaped them back into the blue slots. When I booted, it still showed as only 8GB avail, and CPU-Z still showed Single mode. I rebooted again, went into the BIOS, and set everything back to auto, and when I got back into windows, it now showed 16GB, and Dual mode in CPU-Z!

Thank you very much! You pointed me in the right direction!
