Hi I bought 16gb of kingston hiper X Fury (4x4gb) but my pc says I have 16gb (7.96 usable). I've tried managing the speeds on BIOS and dimms changing but nothing worked.
I'm using a AMD Fx 8350 black edition CPU on a Gigabyte AM3+ Ga-FXA-990-UD7 motherboard.
Help me please.

Chances are good that since you bought two disparate sets of RAM, they just don't want to play nice together. They could have different chip densities, voltages, latencies or simply not want to "play nice" together. This is not uncommon. This is why we recommend buying ALL modules that will be used at the same time and in a matched set. Try using only one pair in the two slots designated for dual channel operation and see if they work normally. Then try the other two. If both "sets" work without the other set installed, then it's probably a case of them not having been tested together for compatibility, or, it may simply be that your CPU and motherboard don't want to work with 4 modules installed. The AMD memory controllers are fickle...
What speed are the modules? Model number?

You might try bumping the DRAM voltage slightly in the bios. The FX memory controller often has issues with 4 modules at 1866mhz or higher speeds, with or without a voltage increase. I'd try bumping the voltage slightly and see what shakes out. Did you buy all four modules in one matched set or did you buy either 4 individual modules or two matched sets?

Hi, andbthnx forma you reply, i bought 2 packs of 2 one Black and red. Speeds are 1866 for each and the model number is HX318C10FRK2/8.

can you please explain me how to do it. And will this ruin or burn my rams?

The AMD memory controllers are fickle sometimes, especially with memory speeds over 1600mhz when four modules are used.

Since 4 modules uses more power than 2 modules, there may be enough voltage drop that they need a slight bump in voltage too, but I wouldn't hope or expect that to 100% be likely.

Ok now read carefully... My English is not the best.

What I did is the following. I first bought the 2 sticks of black and had the same problem so I bought 2 more of red since I thought 1 of the black came defective. Now I have the same issue. So I followed your advice and powered off my pc and took 1 black stick from dimm #1 powered on and said 12gb with (don't remember how much readable).
Powered off again and took 1 red stick from dimm #4 powered on and now I have full 8gbs.
I'm only using dim #2 with red and #3 with black. Any advice now?

The Fury run off PnPso start with a single pair in slots 1-3 and see what they set themselves up to, under PnP they will set themselves to the max data rate they figure they can run. Nextlook in the BIOS and raise the DRAM voltage to 1.6 (initially) and the CPU/NB voltage to 1.25, save exit and shutdown. Add the other two sticks and give it a try

Ok I'm doing what you told me to but in my bios there are 2 things CPU pll voltage wich says its at 2.500v and NB voltage wich it says 1.100v

Wow... The models are different HX318C10FRK FOR REDS
HX318C10FBK FOR BLACKS
REDS WARRANTY LABEL SAYS THE FOLLOWING UNDER THE MODEL.
9905402-653.ADOLF (A LONG SPACE) CPMM08C1426
AND FOR REDS ITS
99U5402-416.ADOLF (A LONG SPACE) 1516 (A LONG SPACE AGAIN) CPMK0851526.

EVERY SERIAL THING ONTHEM IS DIFFERENT. Can that be the issue?

Well just figured out that the R and the B are for the colors of it but the black but they do have something different this serials
Black
9905402-653.ADOLF (A LONG SPACE) CPMM08C1426

RED
99U5402-416.ADOLF (A LONG SPACE) 1516 (A LONG SPACE AGAIN) CPMK0851526
And that 1516 on REDS!!!
I'm about to explode

This is exactly why purchasing all modules together in the amount you require, in a matched set, is paramount. Like I said before, even if they had the same identical part numbers, but were purchased separately, they still would stand a good chance of not working together. Since those are clearly NOT the same part number, the chances just go up from there.

Yeah now i lost 2 rams and the money cause I won't find these in my country. Thanks for your help bro.

Man sorry but now I really need your help. I did some voltage thing and now it reads 12gb usable. Can I private message you?

I'm actually leaving for a few hours, but you can certainly PM me if you wish and I'll help if I can when I get back. If you're showing 12GB now, with three modules installed, then it would seem to be working, but probably not in dual channel, which is better than having two modules that don't work. Posting your further information here would be better than PM though as Tradesman or another user might be able to help you further before I return.

Well just to add this. After all 1 of my sticks came detective so after going un the BIOS and playing a bit with voltage as you told me to do I went to DRAM voltage and raised it just 0.100v more, saved and reset. Pufff!!!! 16gb (12gb readable). Went back to bios and reset default and it just stayed 12gb readable.
Imformatic is just like math... CRAZY.
Thank you man....

So one of the modules is either not working or there is not enough voltage. I'd try as Tradesman said and raise the northbridge voltage (NB) to 1.3 like the man says. Maybe you can get that fourth stick to work.

Also, if you reset the BIOS to default after making those changes, then you undid all the changes you may and will have to start over.
