Question 16gb single channel low performance

i have a 16gb ddr4 3000mhz ram in single channel with i7 8700 and gtx 1080ti
i see low fps ins games also a lot of stuttering
am i suffering this because of running ram in single channel should i change to dual channel and how much increase will i get then?
pls help

still, it may not fix the stuttering, but dual channel is better, be sure to buy the ram in a set because those are guaranteed to work together. adding a stick--even with the same mfg and timings-- to what you have might work, but you have to be the tester because it might not.

make sure all your drivers are correct and up to date for the most part, sometimes you need to go back a version or two with GPU drivers to get one that won't stutter on your machine.

You can test for defective memory with
MemTest86

You need to set memory parameters in BIOS either via enabling XMP or manually. Leaving memory set to [Auto] may cause the memory to run at conservative Serial Presence Detect (SPD) settings.

I would recommend using a kit of two DDR4-2666MHz modules.
