I installed 2 identical ram cards in my Asrock motherboard a few days ago. It worked fine for awhile but now it tells me only half my ram is availible and bios says its running in dual channel like it should. What should I do? I tried the cmos reset and the bios checker, I just want my ram back!

Hi

What make & model ram?
was it a matched pair ?

is report of RAM size from Windows or BIOS /UEFI or both ?

are you overclocking the ram?
(if so go back to defaults)

have you run bootable CD or USB disk with memtest86 to test your ram ?

first test one stick of ram at a time
if both work with no errors test both together

does motherboard have 2 or 4 ram sockets?
If 4 sockets is the ram in correct sockets for first pair?
try other 2 sockets.

The make of the ram is PNY PC3 - 112800 and yes its a matched pair. The report of ram size is coming from windows; I didnt check bios yet but UEFI sees all the ram and says its in dual channel. Im not overclocking any part of my pc and I tested the ram and they both work fine. My pc has two sockets and I did test one socket which had no errors except an odd windows system properties page error and I forgot to mention that this ram issue didn't happen until after a fresh windows install.

Its Windows 7 home premium 64 bit and yes the ram came from the same package. My motherboards name is ASRock fm2a58m-vg3+ R2.0
