17" for gaming and movies

I have read through some threads, but I'm still a bit unsure about this.
Should I get Samsung's 172t or hitachi CML174SXW?
There are no local vendors that I could go to and
compare them =(. The only thing holding me back from
buying the 172t is the response time. Could someone
tell me how the CML174 is better/worse than 172t,
or are they almost identical but CML174 just has
a better response time? I spend most of the time
on desktop, but movies and games have to look good
too.

Hmmm... noticed on anandtechs review, that with digital
connection there is no streaking or ghosting with the 172t.
Doesn't that mean that it doesn't really matter if the response
time is 16ms or 25ms? I'm probably missing some point,
since I'm not too familiar with lcd's...

Check the whole forum topic. There I discovered that a) ghosting and b) streaking are different to motion blur/shadowing. This shadowing has to do with response time but ghosting/streaking has to do with ability of monitor to display correctly the input signal. It seems that sometimes we use the above names interchangeably to convey the same experience of high response times...
