Hey guys,
I would really appreciate some feedback, advice, and suggestions on my new build. I have been out of the game for a while but I am building a system for my family friend. We live in Canada and the budget is up to $1700 CAD.
Components
Case:SilverStone Micro-ATX (https://goo.gl/Y7oIJl) $100
Case Fan (for rear): COOLER MASTER 120mm (https://goo.gl/5oELXp) $25
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K (https://goo.gl/Xwu48u) $447
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2400 (https://goo.gl/QGVPbN) $150
Storage 1: SAMSUNG 850 PRO 256GB SSD (https://goo.gl/4ntoA3) $165
Storage 2: WD Black 2TB 7200 RPM HDD (https://goo.gl/msj0vx) $155
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 80+ GOLD 550W Fully Modular (https://goo.gl/zVjQdx) $100
Motherboard: MSI B150M Mortar Micro-ATX (https://goo.gl/L606TB) $115
Optical Drive: ASUS 24X DVD Burner (https://goo.gl/dfMQTm) $25
Peripherals: Logitech MK320 2.4 GHz Wireless Keyboard & Mouse (https://goo.gl/xiBmCn) $50
Software:
Windows 10 Home on USB Flash Drive (https://goo.gl/39Zr2I) $140
Total: $1472
Shipping: $32
Final Total (after tax & shipping): $1700
Optional Graphics
EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB GDDR5 (https://goo.gl/pR2b0z) $155
EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 (https://goo.gl/cP8d7F) $180
The thing is, he does not play any games, does not have intensive graphic needs (picture/video editing) - at least at the moment. He basically browses the net, burns some discs, watches videos, Netflix, etc.) Why such a fast system then? He wants it to last for 5+ years without any upgrades, and for it to be lightning quick for his fast-clicking productivity needs. As long as it operates fast and is reliable.
I am already at the top of the budget without adding a dedicated graphics card, so is it really necessary to add one with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 630? I'm not sure how else to save, because I need high-quality long-lasting components! Maybe I can save a little somewhere else and get a less expensive (than the ones listed -- that I like the sound of!) graphics card?
In case you were wondering, there is no plans to overclock. I was going to use the stock Intel heatsink, unless someone suggests otherwise. I picked the 7700K so the motherboard could decide to throttle things up if needed. How's my reasoning?
Thanks very much!
Sean
