Review <A HREF="http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=bigblacklcd&page=1" target="_new">here</A>

"Gaming abilities are strong with the Hitachi CML181SXW-B, as it has become one of the best LCD monitors we've ever tested in terms of gaming performance"

The Hitachi is an S-IPS panel, which is what I was looking for.

Flamethrower read this: "Color contrast seems to be greater with the Hitachi monitor as well, although we did notice that the NEC 1920NX monitor can bring out much greater levels of brightness compared to the Hitachi CML181SXW-B. The default configuration of the Hitachi screen has the brightness set to 100%, and still isn't incredibly bright on screen, which means a low brightness level. The spec sheets show a brightness level of 235 nits for the Hitachi, and 250 nits for the NEC." - easier on your eyes!

Now the question is, The monitor seems good enough for gaming, i'm not worried about pixel response. But, will I be unhappy with the 1280X1024 resolution, as opposed to getting one with 1600X1200

1280x1024 is nice res, it's big, but no so that ur vid card struggles. Good thing it's 18 inch, 17" w/ 1280x1024 causes eyestrain imo cause the text and all is soo small.

I just got this LCD today, from MonitorOutlet.

Black looks black, white is white. No dead pixels. Texts, 2d pics looks great when I scaled the resolution down to 800x600 and 1024x??? using Analog.

Only have a laptop atm, so I can't say if it works well with games. I tested it out with Diablo and Starcraft. Both looks fine.

I'll post my thought once I get a desktop
