Ok, unfortunatly you are out of luck on this. I really hate when there is an industry wide standard and OEMs decide to make their own stuff to prevent any sort of upgradeability. This is worse then dell integrating the power button, usb and audio into a proprietary circuit baord and cable to to the motherboard.

There is no option for you to upgrade your power supply, HP only made a 400w model which is not enough power for a 7870, probably would not even power a 7770/r7 260. Not only is there no plug and play option, you could not even go so far as to hack and resolder wires as the cables/voltages do not even match the ATX standard.

Thus you have one of three options:
1) Sell the whole damn computer and build one that is not a...
Are you sure that the motherboard is not 20pins. 18 pins is not normal at all.

If it is 20 pin then most psus have a breakaway on the last 4 pins so you can convert your 24pin to a 20 pin.

As far as the 2 6 pin connectors that is very common, what graphics card do you have so we can get you the appropriate wattage of a psu.

2) Replace your motherboard and psu and have to buy windows agian as your license key is tied to that HP motherbaord
3) Get a GTX 750 ti GPU and accept that that is the best you can really use on that 400w factory psu.

Ok the computer is from the store and company I work for I would get it at staff discount for £175 but would it be worth buying just for the chip i7 3770 thanks

The CPU is a previous generation i7, not at all bad and you wont notice much difference between it and a 4770.

Here is the reusable parts:
CPU £206
Memory £65
Hard Drive £35
DVD Drive £10

Now the memory and hard drive will likely not be as quality as you can buy from 3rd party vendors, and you will likley loose all warranty on the CPU by moving it to a different tower.

On a budget stand point if you can get it for £175 then that is a good £125 savings. As said the memory and hard drive wont have the same quality/warranty and you will likley not have any cpu warranty.

I would advise to not use the provided case for gaming between the fact that OEM cases are not designed with cooling in mind, and I would not be surprised if they used some non-standard bolt configuration on the motherboard.

As far as motherboards you will need a socket 1155 motherboard for the 3770, look at an H77 or Z77 chipset depending on your needs/features that you want. The best brands are ASUS, ASROCK, and Gigabyte.
