I just bought 16 gig 1866 MHz corsair vengeance ram and I cant get it to work my mother board is a H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) and my cpu is Intel Core i3 540 is this ram even compatible with my mother board the ram is 4 4 gig sticks my power supply is a corsair cx600 my graphics card is a gtx 970 incase im pulling to much power from the power supply thnx

Solution
The CPU can take 4 sticks of 4GB Yes, we aren't talking quad channel here - having four slots has nothing to do with Quad channel. You have a dual channel 1156 mobo - each channel can use 2 slots. That out of the way, the big problem here is the 1156 is an older mobo made when DRAM was made using low density memory ICs (chips), todays DDR3, going back to about the start of 2011 is made with high density memory ICs which aren't compatible with your mobo. There have been instances of people reporting using the newer high density DRAM on 1156, but few and far between. You could check for a BIOS update and then try, starting with 1 stick at a time, but don't get your hopes up. I'd look for the GSkill NT series of value DRAM

This is the memory specs for your CPU, it doesn't support quad-channel.
Try using only 2 sticks on seperate channels.

some one said if I put an i5 in it that might fix it is this true ?
