Hi i was wonder what peoples experiences during game play was on these three resolutions...
1920 x 1080
vs
1080 x 720
vs
720p

Also to digress from resolution also i wanted to know how people felt between 30 and 60 fps in regard to game play experience"

(As well as just being intrested i'm also looking at buying graphics cards and/or a new monitor so it does server some purpose!)

I'd find it very interesting to hear peoples thoughts!

For me, the main thing is to run at the monitor's native resolution. 1920 x 1080 (otherwise known as 1080p) is more or less where it's at these days, so I regard it as the standard against which GPU performance should be judged.

30fps vs 60fps is like night and day. 30fps is choppy, not at all smooth, and gives you less information than you need to make the right decisions. 60fps is smooth and just right.

So, to summarise, 60fps performance on 1080p is always my target.

That last resolution you mentioned is not 720p, it's one of the 480p resolutions. 480p is not good, compared to 720 or 1080 it looks pretty awful. Comparing the first two resolutions, it really depends on how big the screen is and how close you are to it. Given the intended usage I would say go for 1080p unless you are playing on a sub-40inch TV and sitting a fair distance from it, then it doesn't matter too much.

For the FPS anything over 40fps looks the same to me, although other people wouldn't agree.

The higher the resolution, the better the image quality will be. The faster the frame rate, the smoother it looks and feels. Thus, 1920 x 1080 (1080p) @ 60 FPS is always preferable over lower resolutions and slower frame rates. Increase the frame rate, resolution or both and it will always be better. It's that simple.

I have never heard of 1080 x 720 (3:2 aspect ratio) as a resolution on any monitor or tv.
