[SOLVED] 1920x1080 vs 2560x1440

Good day,
I'm thinking of changing my existing monitor AOC 24G2U-144Hz, IPS, 1920x1080 to a bigger one with a higher resolution. I read somewhere that AOC is going to sell this monitor AOC AG273QXP, 165Hz, NanoIPS, 2560x1440. I would like to know how much the transition to a higher resolution can be recognized? I sit at the length of my hand from the computer. I play the games World of Tanks and Guild Wars 2. At the moment, in combination with the GTX 1070 graphics card, 144Hz is fully utilized, it is clear to me that I would have to change the graphics card if I wanted to play at a higher resolution on more FPS.

Firstly, depending on the game you might get 1440p 144fps with a gtx 1070.

also, the difference.. its there, but its not huge.
I run 3 monitors.
2 of which are 1080p 60hz and 1 is 1440p 144hz.
the 144hz is a much bigger difference, and i only notice the resolution difference if I do a side by side show of the same text or animation.

Thank you for your answer.. I like IPS panel with more Hz(144Hz) but i dont know how much is a difference between 1920x1080 vs 2560x1440. in World of Tanks game and Guild wars 2 game.

At 27” I personally don’t like 1080p. While video and games are ok (not great) my big issue is the lack of sharpness for text and similar. I find reading websites, documents and working in Excel annoying. If only gaming I could live with 1080p but having gone 1440p 144Hz 27” I cannot see me ever considering anything less for my desktop (my laptop is 1080p 144Hz). However 1440p 144Hz can be very demanding on the gpu. I was underwhelmed with my 2080S which I have now sold in preparation for a 3080 which should let me run the settings I want and still get the FPS I also want.

Okay, I'll try to buy a monitor bigger than 24 with an IPS panel. Do you know a good monitor? Any tip?

Sorry what I meant was I feel 27” is too large for 1080p when reading and working with documents. At lower sizes or with only moving images I don’t have a problem.

Do you feel better when you have 2560x1440 for gaming? Games look better?

Yes, definitely looks better especially when detail settings are pushed up. However it comes at a fair cost for gpu. My main game at the moment is COD MW which at 1440p I have to run at medium settings to average 120fps using a 2080S. At medium settings the uplift is visuals is reduced. I’m actually going for the 3080 when released so I can run higher settings, not looking for more FPS although that would be nice. The biggest thing I notice at 1440p is sniping, much earlier to pick out targets in the distance.
