for the past few months i have been using my HDTV as my monitor and the display has been 1842x1836p this resoulution is actually really sharp and actually looks HD and everything is clear but i recently just found out my screen/HDTV is actually Full HD 1920x1080p when i switch to that resoulution everything looks blurry and everything looks like you are watching a youtube video in 480p so help me i really want to play games in 1920x1080p and use my HDTV to the full amount.

Solution
Are you sure it is 1842x1836 (i am mainly concerned with the second number).

It is possible that they market the TV as 1920x1080 but it is really 1842x1036 (not 1836). I have never heard of that.

With all that said, the difference in pixels between 1842x1036 and 1920x1080 is minimal. Keep it set to what looks good. You will be gaining next to nothing getting it to run at 1920x1080 (and it sounds like it wont run at that anyways.)

What you are describing is exactly what happens when you force a display to run at a resolution higher than it supports, which is impossible and always results in a a weird blurry look.

1080p is pretty low resolution if you're sending it to a TV sized display and sitting relatively close (gaming for instance). I've got a 30" pc display and 2550p is IMO about the minimum for gaming - I'd like to run 4k but that's asking too much from the GPU's at this point (maybe later this year).

My video card is a gtx 950 msi 2g.

and i am connecting it through HDMI
and yes it is wierd but i am on 1842x1836p

I am using HDMI
I did manually resize it on nvidia control panel

You really sparked my curiosity. Would it be at all possible for you to post a Screen Shot showing your resolution...

there you go

You misunderstood me... I wanted you to show a screenshot that displays your resolution.. from your display setttings.. so I can read what it says... but only if you're able too.

I did that in 1920 x 1080p and nothing changed everything seems to big and its not as sharp as it should be.

I forgot about this thread. I was wondering... Are you using Windows 10? If so, do you use a Custom DPI for your desktop? If you answer YES to both question... then I have a solution for you. Windows 10 uses a different DPI Engine than Windows 7 or 8... and it can cause text to become blurry. The way to fix that would be to either use the Native DPI or search for a utility called "Windows 10 DPI Fix".
