I've been looking around the internet for a definitive answer before making some purchases, but I haven't found any clear answers yet.
I'm planning on buying a new widescreen PC monitor 24" or 25.5" and I'm wondering if those with HDMI inputs will work with a cable box HDMI output such as a SA4250. The sales folks at big box stores all say yes, HDMI is HDMI. However, in the searching I have done, I've seen comments about the SA4250 not recognizing the display on a monitor, especially those with 1920x1200 resolution. I've seen one monitor with 16:9 1920x1080 resolution (an Acer P244W) but there are some others that interest me more.
So has anyone had experience with this kind of setup? I read lots about PS3 HDMI to PC monitors, but very little about cable boxes.
I know from experience with my main TV (52"Bravia) and DVD player that HDMI devices tend to communicate and establish a kind of handshake, but will 1920x1200 monitors be unrecognized by the cable box? I've gone to support sites for Samsung, LG and Acer monitors that are listed at the local big box stores and checled their specs, but none list 1920x1080 in the supported resolution/timing sections (except for the Acer P244W).
Anyone?
