Hi guys,

So just out of curiosity, does anyone know exactly how much vram speeds actually affect performance? How does it work? I don't really understand, I mean if you have 2 identical cards, 1 with gddr5 and one with gddr3, and they are both using 512mb out of 1024 mb, why does it make a difference? Is it to do with how fast the textures are accessed or something?

Thanks.

More memory bandwidth does tend to mean more textured pixels per second and higher triangle fill rate. In newer games though, you will need 2GB of RAM to be somewhat comfortable as most semi-recent games easily use more than 1GB whenever available.
