1gbps status, but speedtest only 100mbps

Hello guys,

This is my first question here, so i will try to cover everything.
Last month i changed my internet connection to 500mbps bandwidth, bought a new router, cable.

Details:

• 
  ■ Cable: Cat6
  ■ Motherboard: ASRock B85M Pro3
  ■ CPU: Intel Core i5-4460
  ■ Router: TP-LINK Archer D5 v1 AC1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router

Updated the drivers and the firmware of the router too.

Everything is good to achieve 1 gigabit speed. Last month it was good, i configured everything and had 500mbps speed.
Now i only receive 100mbps speed, but the ethernet status says 1gbps.

I take any advice or tip to test other options. My guess that the internet provider did something or my router options, configurations are bad.

What i tried already:

• 
  ■ All ports of the router
  ■ Router restarts with cable(without cable in)
  ■ Network adapter setting changes

Did not try to connect the computer directly to the cable without router, but i will. (Desktop)

If i missed any relevant info please notify me in the comments and i will catch up on with it.

I am assuming if you can test without the router you have a separate modem/router. That would be a easy test but you will of course have to power cycle the modem every time you mode the cable because the mac address will change and the modem only uses the first it finds.

Not sure if the router has a display that will show the speed of the wan port. The connection between the router and modem may have negotiated 100m. Many modems will also show the speed of the ports.

Still the simplest test is to plug directly into the modem and test. If you have more than one device that you could test with that would be even better. If you can't get the rated speed pretty much you are left calling the ISP. Tiny chance it is some kind of errors on the connection to your house but you would not think it would get almost exactly 100m.

It turns out the the problem was not on my side. There was something wrong with the cable from the ISP's side(not all lines worked) and thats why the speed was only ~100mbps. Closing this thread.

Conclusion: always test dircetly the ISP s cable (it s coming from a converter or something like that) and try in the device manager if it can handle 1gbps speed. (if you have the same kind of problem of course)
