After quite some time, I decided to upgrade my ram. After installing the new ram, The computer started screaming / beeping.
it stopped when I undid the change.

I'm going to put the info down the way it shows on the sticker of the ram:
The green ram I tried to install on PC was:

Bar code

with BARCODE
circle 4 GB 1Rx8 PC3-12800U-11-11-A1 Strange square QR- like symbol CE 7Q14B5 P/N 698650-581

Product of china SPAEE1X013

Can someone please send a link for ram upgrades to this dell optiplex 780?
And can it go to 32gb of memory with windows 7 professional?

Or 16 GB, something that does not involve buying a new computer. I hit the last guy in the face with a brick that said buy a new computer to get 6 GB of ram total on this thing.
I am wondering what went wrong / how to get the 4 G.B. one past 4 G.B. of RAM.
They only clue is the new RAM had one more notch on the green part of the ram. most have 3 bumps / notches on the side. The new ones had 4. These were the tall ones on the 4 g.b. tower.
I have no idea what you are trying to say Koekiezz.
This post was about RAM.

It's hard to understand what's going on as your description is very confusing.

DDR3 RAM all has the same pinout. I'm not sure what you mean by "bumps."

And only sticks of matched RAM, in the same package and tested together, are guaranteed to work.

I know that, but i want to buy / get more ram and / or figure out why these 4 new ram chips are not working in the pc2.
And where / what to buy to increase ram.

I don't want to buy a new car every time a tire goes flat, or to buy a new car to put 2 more tires on it so it has a total of 4 tires.
I don't want to buy a new computer to add more ram.
I don't spend 5 trillion dollars to buy 2 sticks of every ram in the universe to test every kind to see what else I can stick in to increase the ram.
I don't know know how to explain that in any more ways, I explained that in 2 other ways so far. I have included pics to help.
I don't know why people only read half the question and ignore everything else.
im old, i just want this to work.

Please someone, anyone. Help.

nevermind, I know you guys are correct 99.99% of the time but i'm tired of the mantra of "buy a new computer" , "get a 1.2 kilowatt psu made of dimonds and gold to run a 15 year old machine to play games made 10 years ago." ,"too much heat" , "that does not exist. " And the most common one, "That is impossible."

So I had the village shaman summon ghosts and draw pentagrams with some candles here and there.
I'm not sure what the whispers in the dark said but the fire consumed the machine briefly, then came back a bit later.
The shaman said it was good to go.
Here's the new machine specs:

Turns out it did not support the 4gb chips at all for some reason, probably incorrect voltage. Maybe a mother board issue, I would like to know the exact details as to why if anyone knows, please post it here.
.
Does anyone know why?

And although the operating system can support 192 GB of ram, the mother board cannot. Thanks anyways to those that helped.

I'm posting all this so any others in the future see this and has problems upgrade the ram on a dell optiplex 780, maybe this will help you.

I'm gonna play solitaire. :D

well you've said it yourself, old motherboard such as lga 775 and lga 1156 sometimes does have compability issue one each other. since it's not as simple "ram is ram" but how the board and cpu does actually play with the ram technology itself, be it a new litography, or a denser chip.
