1st build gaming pc (Yay or nay?)

Solution
Tweaked it a little bit. Got you a much cheaper cooler that has good performance, and dropped down to a 550w really good PSU (550w is more then enough for a 1070).

I would go with DDR4-2400 RAM and a HX750i PSU but otherwise just fine, expensive, but fine. Also, I hope you are going to be gaming at 1440p 144hz or 4k with that GTX 1080, otherwise you are wasting it. If gaming at 1440p 60hz or 1080p 144hz you'd want a GTX 1070. If gaming at 1080p 60hz all you need is a 1060 6gb.

I have a couple of thoughts:

1. since you have no price on the ram, I presume you own the 2 x 8gb kit of 2133 speed.
That is fine, there is little advantage of 2400 speed in terms of fps or real app performance.

You are good.

2. The amp! card is a very heavily overclocked card and requires some 150w more than the normal GTX1080.
The card itself can consume up to 375w.
I am doubtful that 600w is sufficient and the corsair builder series is not considered good quality.
Tier 4, I think.

Try to buy a tier 1 or 2 unit if you can.
Seasonic is always good.
Seasonic S12II 620w would be my minimum, and really, you should go stronger like 750w.
I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

3. The noctua NH-D15 is about the best air cooler around. Probably more than you need.
I would buy the newer s variant which costs the same.
It is redesigned to clear tall ram heat spreaders(not a problem for you).
More importantly, it is slightly offset to clear graphics cards with backplates mounted in the usual first pcie x16 slot.

FWIW
As of 1/13/17
What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.4v Vcore.

I7-7700K
4.9 74%
5.0 56%
5.1 26%
5.2 5%

As stated get at least ddr-2400 since price is pretty much the same.

And a $22 windows licesnse key is in no way legitimate.
The compapnies selling those are in no way autorhized micorosoft resalers. They find keys from MSDN subscriptions or from boxes and sell them to you before the rightfull owner of the key activates them. Thus at some point the proper owner of the key will activate it and your PC will get deactivated.
Its the equivelant of handing a guy on the street corner $20 and he gives you a piece of paper with a license key.

1. Videocard: The MSI GTX 1070 gaming z isn't worth it... compared to the gaming x you pay extra for what msi considers "features" which is just slightly higher clock speeds (easily obtainable through OC) and a rgb LED on the backplate (on an already black/red theme card 😛) other than that these card are praticaly the same.

2. Cooler: better looks, quiet as the noctuas, chills your cpu just as good as the noctuas, easier installation AND it looks waaay more cool (no pun intended 😀)

3 CPU: the i7-7700k at it's current price on canad it's just not worth it... i mean yeah you get hyperthreading and that's cool but as of now games only care about phisycal cores it will be a long way until game devs even start to consider hyperthreading-ish tech (both from AMD and intel) to their game code...

i know i went slightly over budget but hey it's just 9 ca dolars nothing that breaks the bank.

it's an MSI GTX 1070 GAMING Z . the 1070 is the best card for your money @ 1440p also i would not take the 1060 for 1080p as the RX 480 is just as powerful and performs better on DX12/Vulkan and you can find it cheaper (also you can't SLI the 1060 but you can crossfire the rx 480)
