Hi. So this is my 1st time trying to build a pc, and I don't know much yet about the topic. But I want to take this chance and buy some of the parts on Black Friday, so I need help before I do order the parts. Will the build work? Any comments or advice?

I want this PC for gaming + general use + editing videos and art making.

The only 3 things I'm sure about are :

- CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor

- Graphics card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB Dual Video Card
OR ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG Strix Graphics Card (1835MHz) - if there were good deals on black friday only.

HDD - Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ( OR the black version)

I think of buying an SSD later on.

I used some useful websites to help me choose the other components.

this is the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8QfHsZ

Approximate Purchase Date:
this black friday (some parts) and then next month the rest of them.

Budget Range: 1350$ (only for the PC, without the monitor and etc)

Are you buying a monitor: Yes (but not now, I'll be using my tv till I do)

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Location: Oman, but I'm ordering the parts from Amazon.

Overclocking: Yes mostly

SLI or Crossfire: don't know what's that - yet.

Your Monitor Resolution: haven't decided yet.

Additional Comments: I want it future proof as much as possible. I'm not really that interested in upgrading from time to time. Not before a couple of years.

Why Are You Upgrading: I have an old laptop that I can't play any games with decently.

Solution
Well you should've said from the beggining that you can only buy from amazon.
i haven't heard of any RX 580s that present your stated problems(I think you have something against AMD at this point :) since the card is much cheaper and better performing than the 1060).

I made a list only with amazon parts.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i5-8600K 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($245.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - H5 Ultimate 76 CFM CPU Cooler ($75.98 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI - Z370 SLI PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($129.99 @ Amazon)...

Just to make sure.
You've put 2 different rams so I can pick one of them right? :)

Hi,

I'm having a little trouble atm. I switched the TV I had with a bigger 1 (4k one) and I haven't rly bought a monitor yet. Now the pc is not working well (once windows starts up its pitch black, and its stuck). It was working for a while but now it's just not. And this actually happened to me earlier this month till windows was no longer starting (the log in screen) and the screen would be twitching and keeps rebooting till I get the blue screen for troubleshooting. So I dont want to keep trying so I dont have to re-install windows all over again.

So I thought I should buy a monitor now. The choices I have aren't many in my area. So I found this FHD monitor for gaming, ( so its 144hz ). And an HD with 60hz.

Which one would be ok? And if not what kind of monitor would suit this build?

Thank you all for your guidance and help.
