Hi Guys

I am aware this has probably been asked numerous times, but I am looking to build my first gaming PC. The issue is, I havent got the best knowledge when it comes to hardware (especially in gaming) and my research leads me to feeling unsure thats the best deal.

I would prefer my budget to be closer to £500, but I could stretch it to a £1000 for the right reasons. I'd basically rather not have to re-buy parts too soon after because I cut costs from the beginning.

Any advice would be great to get a good up and running gaming PC first time. With little hassle or know-how. I already have the OS Windows 8.1 Update 1.

One side question: Do you guys normally run the OS off the SSD and then store the data on the HDD? or run everything from an SSD?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Solution
This would give you a good experience with gaming, while being close to your budget. As for your other question, I have my OS and a few core program files running on my SSD, and everything else running off of my HDD's.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£142.50 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£69.56 @ Scan.co.uk)

run OS from SSD, run your favorite games from SSD, run everytzhing else and store everything else on HDD.
I guess you have an 1080p monitor aswell so
something like this will do fine from 1000punds:

i5 4690k with 3dparty air cooling like the evo212
samsung 850evo 250Gb
z97-a
gtx 970
8gb ( or 16) ram
medium quality 600watt power supply or high quality 600w for overclocking
1 or 2tb HDD 7200rpm
