1st pc gaming build, low budget

Solution

Seems like a good starter gaming build! I guess you could call this a console killer, that 1050ti will run most games pretty well (60fps) on medium settings. You can upgrade any of these parts in the future, as long as the processor you choose to upgrade to is LGA1151, so it's compatible with the motherboard. The only problem I see is the low amount of storage space which is fine if you don't plan to have a lot of high-space games on your PC, and also the 4GB of RAM which is considered too low for gaming...

Try to get an 8GB kit if you have the money for it.

Oh, and also I'd get Windows 10 instead. Unless you really prefer Windows 8.1, I'd go for Windows 10 as it has a much better interface.

Solution
Get more RAM if possible, 8 GB is really the minimum for games nowadays. Also, get DDR4-2400 instead DDR4-2133.

Other than that, get that CPU upgraded once you can afford it - you can go up to the i7 7700 on the same motherboard, but don't get an overclockable processor. A dual core CPU won't run all games smoothly nowadays. Honestly, if you can, avoid dual core altogether and get an i5 if possible.

Finally, get Windows 10, 8.1 won't run DX12, which might limit your game choices in the future.

I don't think 16GB of RAM is that necessary for a gaming PC, agree with rest though

8Gb is really pushing it nowadays. Its better to just get 16Gb and not have to buy more in the future.

Note: Looks like you have 16gb in your own system :l

^ 8gb isn't pushing it if you only have a $550 budget though.
It'll manage fine for gaming.

My advice , the new ryzen r3 , & use windows 10 free until you can afford a registration key.

I have 16GB of RAM because I use it for more than gaming and my PC isn't my 1st build, nor did it need to be low budget. In this guys case 8GB is a certain improvement from 4GB and it's all you really need for now for gaming - if he needs more he can just get another stick in the future.
