So I have a ROG STRIX B450-F that currently has a r7 2700 in it, im upgrading it to a Ryzen 7 5700X. This motherboard comes with the ability to update via internet, which ive tried, but it updated to 4007, which isnt compatible wiht the 5700X. So I need to flash it with a USB, never done it before. Ive got a 16gb USB in FAT32 ready to go, but other than that im incredibly unprepared for this, i thought the update the board did itself wouldve encompassed this issue. Ive downloaded version 4801, which from what ive read shows its compatible with the 5700X, but upon unzipping the file, I get 2 files instead of one. Im not smart, but I want to make sure that I do this right, do I just drag and drop these two things onto the USB? or do I create a folder and put them in it? Does it matter? I really dont know. Theres a .cap file named ROG-STRIX-B450-F-GAMING-ASUS-5302 (<i thought this should show 4801 since thats what i thought i downloaded??) and an EXE named BIOSRenamer. Do I just drag them both onto the USB? Or do I put them in a file?

Have you searched for detailed BIOS flashing instructions at the Asus web site? I'd be surprised if there wasn't info there, although it might be cryptic and not as specific as you would like.

Flashing can be cranky......this USB stick might fail, that USB stick might work, etc. I've done it, but was never calm.

In addition to checking the instructions via your motherboard manufacturers website, you also need to be sure that there aren't "bridge BIOS" that need to be installed prior to the one you need to be on.

The only other suggestion I have is that if you have a battery backup available, plug your PC into it (if it isn't) while you do the update. If the power fails while you are doing the flash it could cause issues. If you don't have one, only you know how reliable your service is.

1. Download zip file.
2. Unzip it.
3. Run BIOSrenamer.exe , it will rename .cap file to appropriate format.
4. Copy .cap file onto fat32 formatted flash drive. Doesn't matter, if it is in a folder or not.
5. Run BIOS flash process and load .cap file from USB.

You downloaded BIOS version 5302. This is latest version. Use it instead of older version.
