is a fx 8350 4.0ghz with msi r7 260x 2gb gddr5 oc on a msi 970a-g43 mobo with 8gb of ram at 1866 and 4gb at 1333, stock amd cpu cooler and 550w psu good for gaming? any thing more I should get for my pc

The 260x will run most games at 1080p around med settings at 60fps. For optimal game performance, I suggest spending a little more on the graphics card and a little less on the CPU (an FX-8320 or even a 6300 paired with an R9 270x or 280).

14GB of RAM is not good for your system. The amount is overkill, and the only configuration I can think of to arrive at that number would hurt system performance - having an 8GB, a 4GB, and a 2GB stick would put your RAM in single channel mode instead of dual channel, which hurts system performance.

8GB of RAM is enough for any game out, and ideally you buy it as 2 identical 4GB sticks, preferably in the same kit.

What is your budget?

just paid $700 and the 8gb is a kit running at 1866. and isn't the clock speed more on the r7 oc spec said core clock 1175 and Effective Memory Clock 6500MHz and the cpu was same price as the fx 8320. im going to put the 8 gb 2x4 in when I get the case lol. its been coming for a month now

If you have the 1333mhz RAM in the system, your 1866 Memory is going to run at 1333. RAM will run at the speed of the slowest installed memory.

"Effective Memory clock" speed is a ratio from the memory divider on the FSB. That doesn't mean your system can run 6500mhz DDR3.

my video card is a r7 2gb gddr5 oc clocked at 1175 core and 6500 emc as the r9 270x is 2gb gddr5 oc clocked at 1030 core and 5600 emc would that make the r7 a better choice and for the $100 cheaper? and I understand the ram clock with the 1333 I will not be putting them in.
