1st time new build, need advice/opinions

hi everyone, wanting to build my first computer, im going to pull the trigger when i get my tax returns, ive done a lot of research on the forums here and compiled a list of parts based on that research using pcpartpicker.com. basiclly i just want some advice or opinions on this build to let me know if it will be good for my needs and good for use in the future. thank you

Approximate Purchase Date: within the next month or 2

Budget Range: $1000-$1200 (will go a bit higher if it warrants good performance gains)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Media Storage, Surfing the internet

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor speakers

Overclocking: Yes, something easy as i have never done it before

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe, i think i would rather go with just 1 high performance card, mostly because some games dont really support it, but i will if its really worth it

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 i only have 1 monitor, but i plan on purchasing 2 more to have 3 displays sometime down the line

Additional Comments: just want something that will last me a good long time, and only require part upgrades every now and again

Do you have a spare HDD you can put in this new build? If you do I would recommend reusing it and taking the money you save to buy an SSD.

The only HDD i have is in my current pc, but when i build my new one im handing this one over to my wife, so i need to have a new one, i know the prices are out of control with them right now, but i really cant go without it, i have a lot of media, and i have to sacrifice Performance for storage, however, i do plan on swooping up a SSD in the future but probably not for a little while, since i plan on getting more monitors, at least 1 more until i decide to get an SSD

honestly, your build looks outstanding. i agree with the above poster that a solid state drive is an excellent investment in your price range.

aside from that,
-you could save $5 with a DVD-RW drive that has free shipping
-if you are fortunate enough to live near a microcenter, you can get an i5-2500k for $180
-you should be fine power-wise to add a second 6950 down the line, whenever you buy your 2nd and 3rd displays.

i think ill look into getting an SSD too, could any of you suggest a good one? nothing too puny, something in the range of 128GB or more perhaps?

who knows, maybe ill get more for my tax returns then im anticipating
