So this 1tb hdd i have has all options greyed out (create a new partition). It is unallocated, in DiskPart, it doesnt even show up, however it shows up on device manager. When I try to initialize it, and after choosing the format I want it converted it, it says "Device is not ready". I've tried everything, what can I do? I have no data on the drive so this doesnt matter. Reason I need this done is that it doesnt show up on "This PC"

You might want to make sure you're on the latest BIOS for your motherboard. What OS are you currently on and which version(if Windows 10)? You might also want to skip DiskPart/Disk Management and look into EaseUS Dik Manager and see if that regains functionality of your HDD.

Its definitely nothing to do with my BIOS as I have tried exactly this on another pc too and it returns the same issue... but I shall try EaseUS Dik Manager. Thanks!

Can you show screenshot from Disk Management?

There could be several possible reasons to HDD being undetected or unresponsive. There can be a hardware issue or some technical issue in the software. You can try reconnecting the hard disk but it won’t help in most of the cases.

Try to connect your HDD to another PC to check whether it’s visible and detected by the system or not.

Below are the few possible reasons for any drive being unresponsive:

  1. A lot of bad sectors
  2. Infected File (Virus or Malware)
  3. Driver issue
  4. Mechanical failure

You can try the below options to resolve the issue:

  1. Run CHKDSK
  2. Use an Antivirus & Anti-Malware tool
  3. Re-install the drivers

Hope this will help.
