Ive got my steam directory on my newly installed 2TB hard drive, Is there anything I should now to fully optimize my primary drive? wipe free space? windows does its own defrags, some how make the 2TB do cache handling?

I've got 16GB ram 4x4.

Thanks in advance.

Besides a clean wipe and clean install of your OS, you won't get your HDD any quicker. I'm surprised that you have 16GB RAM and 3TB of storage, but not a SSD though, that difference would be huge.

Hey there, Ross.

@kemperkipie has a pretty good point there. Fresh install, defragmentation and disk cleanup are perhaps the only viable options in this case. If you get a small SSD (e.g. 32GB) you can make it a cache drive, but my advice would be to save up some more and get at least a 120GB SSD for your OS and program files/apps, if possible.
Other than that you could always look up on the web for tips on how to speed up your computer. Most of them include less active programs at once, no programs on startup, older/retro/classic themes of your OS interface, etc. There are others which are OS related so make sure that you are looking for your version of Windows.

Hope that helps.
