I'd like to be able to record gameplay with DXTory but I need a hard drive with a higher write drive than the one I have. Mine reaches about 45mb/s on DXTory but I'd like one that can reach 80mb/s+. I'd also like it to be 1TB. Any suggestions?
What RPM is your hard drive now? There are 5400rpm, 7200rpm, and 10,000rpm. Depending on what you already have, you can then make a choice on which upgrade to make.

If your drive is a 7200rpm drive the only real options you have are 10,000rpm hard drive or an SSD. At the size of 1tb, both of those options will be extremely expensive.

I think it is 7200 RPM
A 7200 RPM drive should be faster than that. What make and model is your hard disk? A 1TB Western Digital Black should meet your requirements, but larger drives often are faster.

My device manager says it is a ST31000524NS ATA Device.
Something is holding back the drive. Is your system powerful enough not to cause the lower than expected write performance? A 10,000 RPM drive won't be much faster; a SSD probably is the only solution.

Yeah I was considering an SSD. My PC however should be powerful enough to have a good write speed.
My CPU is AMD FX8350
My GPU is Nvidia GTX 970
The CPU is powerful enough. I checked this review http://www.hardwarepal.com/nvidia-shadowplay-vs-fraps-vs-dxtory-review-benchmark/ and read the comments; one poster claims that a different codec creates much smaller files. The larger they are, the faster the storage needs to be to keep up.
