My external Seagate harddrive is suddenly not working. Had it plugged into the TV to watch a show - next day when I switched it on it suddenly doesn't pick it up. Tried another drive on the cable - it works. Plugged the harddrive into my laptop - the light comes on, it makes the sound when one connects a device, device manager even picks it up and lists it by its full name. Properties / Device Status says "This device is working properly". However, when I click on the Volumes tab it doesn't pick up any info and Windows Explorer doesn't see it at all. Any suggestions?

Hey there, Claire!

This is rather unfortunate. I suspect a file system issue. Could you please open Disk Management on your computer while the drive is still plugged and tell me how it is detected there? ( http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/disk-management-windows-7.htm )
It would be even easier if you could post a screenshot of it.
You might need to change the file system if your TV cannot read NTFS-formatted drives. I believe this should be written somewhere in your TV user manual.

Keep me posted! :)
