I am considering buying a new gaming laptop for design work as well as gaming. so far I think the Lenovo Legion Y540 is a good option. there is i7-9750H and a RTX 2060.
But there are two different versions that are confusing me.
  1. 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD
  2. 1TB SSD

So is a laptop with only SSD, good choice?
or if you have any other suggestions around same range please share.

Well it depends on your preference really. Most people will use the ssd as a boot drive and the hard drive as storage for games and stuff. If you don't want space to be taken up by the os, the get the first option. However if you really don't mind about it taking up space then the second option might be better

i would say if heavy gaming hours then 1st option to prolong the nvme ssd life. BTW i am also looking for same model priced at rs 125k, do u know if its display is 60hz or 144hz as they have not mentioned?

I would go with Option 2.
You're only losing 256GB, and the whole drivespace is fast.

Lifespan of the SSD is not a concern in normal consumer use.
would like to know if the 1 tb nvme ssd is 900 gb occupied after 1 year use, will it show some signs of lag in boot times or opening closing files?

For an SSD, you should not let it get that full.

For a 1TB drive, keep it under 800GB or so.
And if you keep it under that consumption level, you should see zero performance change in a year. Or 5 years.

Buy whatever you can afford.

There's not much difference between the two configurations. If i had to choose between 512 GB SSD and 256 Gb SSD + 1 TB, may be i would think about it but in this case, 1 TB SSD is a far better choice, regardless of the price.

Also, the model linked in the question is the GTX 1650 model. RTX 2060 model is obviously more expensive. (+50%)

I actually found a better deal for you, i.e. Lenovo Y540 128 GB+ 1 TB. About the same configuration and 60 $ less.

and the good thing is that it retails for around the same price as the Lenovo Y530 with 4 GB GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti.
