1x3slot 2x2slot crossfire

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if you have one 3 slot 7970 can you crossfire it with two other 2 slot cards like will they all fit in and be compatible.
The problem is I have 2 asus dc2ts and wont be able to fit another card in so I had the idea that I could sell one of them and then put 2 standard size 2 slot cards in instead of having to buy a whole 3 new card

it purely depends on your motherboard, i would tend to go with a motherboard that has 2 spaces between pcie 16x ports just so the cards have good ventilation.

but if you have triple slot cards it is going to depend on what sort of clearance your fans have.

Well currently I have two asus dc2t triple slot cards on a rampage iv extreme. Would the extreme be big enough for the three slot card and two two slot cards?

if you already have two and they are working fine, do you only use one monitor or do you have a triple monitor setup?

adding a third card to a single monitor system you should already be getting great performance with two, a third would be uneeded unless you multi monitor.

nope it is needed even at 1080p (metro last light and crisis 3 at full aa settings) but yeah I am thinking of upgrading to 1600p or multi monitor

so can anyone tell me if it would fit on the board I would check my self but I haven't had it for a week and probably not getting it back for another eight weeks due to rma. also can anyone tell me what happens if you run three 7970s in 1080p does it still give you more frames than two right?
