1x6 pin connector into a 1x8 pin GPU?

Edit: Make sure your GPU is screwed in properly and it is not sagging. I opened up my PC and screwed it in properly so it wasn't sagging off the slot and freezes/crashes are pretty much non existent now.

So I built my first PC a couple of months ago, but when I was building it I noticed that my PSU (TACENS T600W Eco) only had a 1x6 pin connector and my graphics card (Gigabyte RX 470 G1 4GB) requires a 1x8 pin connector. I plugged it in and it worked fine. I didn't really think twice about it, until my PC started to freeze completely during gameplay. I think it may be because it's getting too hot, because it usually is a high temperature, and whenever I unplug the HDMI and plug it back in, it shows nothing, so I have to fully restart my PC. I've left it for a little while but I'm getting really worried now. If the PSU is to blame, can someone recommend me a decent, affordable one with the correct connector for my Graphics Card. If not, what else do you think is the problem. Thanks!

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB SD100TM010
SSD: Trancend 120GB
Motherboard: MSI B250M PRO-VDH

There are adapters from 6 to 8 pin so maybe you should try that first.

Hi I wouldn't recommend an adapter as it draws more power than required from a 6pin wire instead I would completely buy a new PSU there not that expemsive.
