Hello.

I upgraded today my acer aspire 5741 with 4 gb of ram ,so i have in total 6 gigs.
my win 8 recognizes my 6 gigs but says only 2.3 are usable , i don't understand why and how can i remediate this problem? also, i don't have in bios any memory related options....

these are my slots.

I see you have two different brands in your slots. Some brands are not compatible with each other, so as a best practice it's always good to use the same brand, the same size modules, and the same type of RAM. I can't say for sure that this is your problem but it's a good possibility.

^ good question
32 Bit OS is limited to a max of 4 gigs

You not only changed Brands, but size and ratings - Ouch
If your snap shot was CPU-Z, what does the memory tab show.
For daul channel operation, you need same size modules. Meaning you would run in single channel mode with two diff sized sticks.
Performance - IF THE two diff modules do work together will be limited to the performance of the LOWER specs.

Recommend you replace the 2 gig module with a 4 gig module WITH idenitical specs.
