2.4c Overclocks

Hi all,

Just wanted to start a thread where the 2.4c owners can post their OC specs. Not sure if my clocks are run of the mill or low. overclockers.com has results but I doubt folks are getting 3.6 with stock coolers.

2.4c
Asus P4C800
OCZ 3500

Vcore 1.5
CPU 3.0ghz
Zalman cooler
Ram 5/4 auto Voltage

Temps are low 27c idle, 38-42c load
room is around 75f

Will try for more just don't want to up my Vcore.

zalman cooler ehe? that's not really helpful, which 1? 1.5 is your default vcore right? Depends on the airflow and your CPU cooling, mine goes at default vcore around 1.48 so I managed 3840mhz at 1.65 vcore. with default vcore I got around 3400mhz.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

The Zalman dropped my temps over 10 degress. Temps are not my issue at all I think I would need to up the Vcore which I wont do. 3.84 is a great Overclock folks with 3.2s are trying to get that high.

How far back did you have to set the mem to get 3.4? what mem are you using?

Oh i'm using 3:2 FSB:Ram ratio, the OCZ 3700EL won't hit more than 220 with dual channel, so oh well, with single channel I got 260, but with dual channel I get more performance even with lower frequency. I'm using timings 2-3-2-6.

Yeah Solstice, you really should include in your config that your Zalman is the humongous 109 mm, CNPS-7000 AlCu.

When you mention "Zalman" most of us think of the silent flower coolers which are usesless for overclocking.

Some of us might even remember the Zalman CNPS-5000/6000 which were midrange coolers.

Just stating "Zalman" says nothing.

By the way, do you have any review links for the CNPS-7000 AlCu?

I'm still impressed with your temps.

I don't know if your overclock is typical or not. 3.6 is about what I had been hearing for tops using air cooling but I don't know which coolers were getting those results.

Your right I should I suppose, This is the first system I have built in a couple years, Back then the fan choices were fewer. I dont have any link on the reviews, I chose it because people here and on other forums were using it and they seemed to like it.

Maybe tonight I will try and go a bit higher, But I'm not sure what a good safe vcore is. I also have a Costa Rica chip which are supposed to clock lower than the Malay.

I was able to get 3.2mhz backing the memory to 266mhz but the performance was better at 3.0 and 320. Maybe tonight I will see if I can get the 3.4 which was my goal to start with.

I hear alot about the 2.4 going to 3.6 and higher. I wonder if they are REALLY stable. I might try upping the vcore on mine to 1.65 volts to see how far I can really go. Why doesn't Intel release a P4 3.6 if this so common? I should be getting my PC4000 any day now. I'll post the results at 3.0ghz 250fsb 1:1. That sould be planty fast and stable.

The box my CPU came in says "made in the philippines". Is that the same a Malasia or not?

In overclockers.com's CPU database one person claims to have reached 3.6 Ghz with a Costa Rica chip and the stock HSF.

Have you tried 320 Mhz with very relaxed memory timings? Or is 266 Mhz the only way it will work at all.

By the way, are the stock fans noisy?

Forgot to mention my cooler, SLK900U with 92mm Tornado.
