Question 2.4ghz internet is slow on laptop

Im not sure why but for some reason when i use 2.4ghz its considerably slower than 5ghz.
the connection speed for 2.4ghz is less than 1mbps while 5ghz manages up to 30mbps, this only happens on this laptop(acer predator).
there were no problems with 2.4ghz for this laptop prior to this
does anyone know what might be the cause for this?

what is your isp speed? neither are very good. you probably have a weak signal or congested rf. iperf3 is a good tool to test wifi. 1 side needs to be wired.

I think my isp speed is supposed to be about 30mbps

iperf3 can show the maximum your wifi can handle on a particular client. I think 1 well placed access point per 1500-2000 sqft is ok. If you have weak reception and you can't move the router you can always run an ethernet cable to an access point.
