2.5 gb at 533 or 2 bg at 667

Simple question which you can pretty much get straight from the topic. Is it better to have 2.5 gb of DDR2 ram at 533 mhz or 2 gb at 667 mhz?

assuming a dual channel mem controller the 2 1gig would run dual channel offering double the bandwidth. If either your board doesn't support dual channel or you don't have the sticks for it then the 2.5 would be better gaining 1/2 gig with no speed loss.

Well I'm not really sure if its dual channel as you said or not. I've got 2 1 gig sticks and a 512 mb stick. The 512 runs at 533 and the 2 at 667. The computer is a Dell E510.

However the processor is a Pentium D not the HT (Not that it makes any difference here).

id just buy 4gb of 1066 ram, its so cheap now XD
but yeah the two 1gb 667 will have a chance of beeing much faster if dual channel enabled or at least some 19% technical increase, and at 2gb you are well enought o play or use any aplication to note the 500mb loss
