2 560 ti's and a 650 watt PSU

ok I have a 650 watt Antec Truepower PSU with a 560 ti, and after I built my rig not long ago I then learned that PCIE-3.0 was coming out AFTER I built everything. So since there are GPUs coming out next year that I am not compatible with, I was wondering " Hey, since I have money now I guess I should look into a second card just in case...". My problem is the PSU, does anyone know from experience whether I should cough up the cash for a 750 watt or should 2 reference 560ti's be happy with the juice I'm feeding them?

well, i have 2 560 ti's with a 750watt PSU as when i was buying my new build, the guy recommended me a 750watt PSU such as the antec earthwatts series which is SLI ready. So basically, its recommended that you have no less than 750watts for SLI so there won't be too much pressure on your PSU. But still wait abit for some other replies, i may be wrong.

You can run that setup on 650w no problem, as long as you don't overvolt your video cards too far.

Yes no proplem at all, the 2 GTX 560TI's power consumption at full load is 298W, which means you have 350W for the rest of your system even if you overclocked.

Biggest problem is that most 650 watt PSU's do not have enough PCIe power cables.

PCIe 3.0 cards will be backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0 motherboards. You should be able to drop in a new AMD 7000 series or NVidia 600 series without any issues. PCIe 2.0 should also still have more than enough bandwidth as the topmost of our current cards don't come anywhere near saturating 16 PCIe 2.0 lanes. A lot of us are wondering why PCIe 3.0 is even needed right now lol.

For now the GTX 560 Ti is enough for most games and should continue to be available into next year in case you do wish to move to an SLI config then.

Wow thats great news, I thought I was sol when I heard that I wouldn't be able to move to newer cards! I guess I need to check my sources next time, I will wait then to see the difference in performance/$ to buying a cheap Ti later down the road.
