So here's a question I can't seem to find a suitable answer to: If I plug in my Mac Pro which puts out 2560 x 1600 into a new 4k television using HDMI (I'm guessing it's 1.4), will it be able to display my 2560 x 1600 resolution and will it look good. If so, I'll be happy and I won't bother buying a beefy GPU upgrade for a while.
I'm looking at displaying this 2.5 resolution on double the space of my current 30" Cinema Display - that is, on a 60" 4k TV. Has anyone tried this and how does it perform?

So. Little by little, I'm finding out more about this issue. Basically popatim has it right. You have to check each tv's fine print to see if it accepts a 1440 resolution input. So far, I've only actually found one TV that does it for sure and it works through a Displayport 1.2. I'm talking about the Panasonic TX-**AXW904 range. (Very expensive).

I'm starting to see more posts about this sort of thing as more and more people seem to want to (like me) hook up their computers to a 4k TV, but don't necessarily need (or want to shell out the money for) a high-end graphics card.

Please! All of you people out there...post here any tv computer set-ups you've actually used...especially those at 1440p. Thanks!
