2.66 ghz?

Hi, I just recently finished building my rig, and it includes an Intel Q9400 which is supposed to be 2.66 ghz. Now, I just installed Core Temp to check the temperatures so why is it showing frequency as only 2 ghz?



Is this normal or there's something wrong with my processor?

So from what I've read so far, my processor is brought down to 2 ghz in order to reduce heat and to consume less power?

I just think it's funny the forums on a large variety of websites get filled with this same question when Intel/AMD have been doing this for years to conserve power.
