I recently bought a 970 (EVGA ACX 2.0 SSC) about a week ago at first, everything was great, then it just started dying on me randomly. The fans would start squeaking REALLY loud and then windows would switch back to the basic color scheme. I didn't think much of it, the card was defective, right? So I returned it and swapped in out for the Gigabyte G1 gaming 970, again at first, it was AWESOME, but then every game just started not being able to be maxed out at 1080p, skyrim, mafia II, Fallout NV, etc. So, I've had 2 different 970's each one has failed me in some way, and this is NOT a driver issue, I've run DDU already (so many times)

Specs:
Intel core i5 4690k
MSI Z97S Sli Krait Edition
Gigabyte G1 Gaming gtx 970
16gb Corsair Vengeance LP (2x8)
Corsair CX750M 80+ Bronze
WD Blue 1tb
Kingston 120gb SSD

Solution
+1 to a possible PSU issue, Corsair's CX and VS series are built with low quality components, so once paired with a powerful video card it shows its flaws, if you're gonna get it replaced via Corsair warranty you'll have to get it exchanged for another series like their AX or HX series, another CX will most likely cause the same issue. At the very least their RM is slightly better than the CX.

I'm not running in SLI, I returned the first card and now I'm using the gigabyte g1 gaming, do you think that maybe the psu could just be defective? Cause I could easily get a replacement with corsairs warranty

oh you run on 1 card hmm then go to best buy buy a new psu test with it and see if same issue then return it because in this case it could also be your motherboard.

I have an update for you guys, I recently bought a PSU tester, the 8 and 6 pin gpu connectors didn't fit, but I hooked up the 24-pin and it didn't reach 12v. So is it safe to say that my PSU needs to be replaced?

need a multimeter to confirm to measure the actual voltage. and voltage under load is another thing to check. psu testers are either voltage yes, or voltage no, they dont really diagnose much. Can you link to the psu tester website for the model you have? and tell me what light is not on. cheers.
