2 ASUS monitors but 1 has higher resoulution than other...

I bought 2 ASUS VN247's but can't get one on 1920 x 1080 like the other. The highest the other can go to in control panel/appearance and personalization/display/screen resolution is 1680 x 1050. Can someone help me fix this please?

The 1920x1080 resolution monitor is connected directly to my laptop via the VGA port, the other ASUS monitor is connected to a SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA adapter.

thats why.

the adapter cant handle higher resolutions.
